The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Art and Visual History, invites applications for a

 W3 Professorship for the Art and Visual History of Eastern Europe

starting as soon as possible.

For this position we are seeking a candidate of national and international renown with a research focus in the history of art and visual culture in Eastern Europe. The candidate’s research specialism should be on a time period between the era of the Byzantine Empire and the present day including the history of migration and exchange between Eastern and Central Europe. Proven expertise in the areas of artistic and cultural transfer, as well as a willingness to teach across genres and epochs, are desired.

Experience in interdisciplinary work environments, an interest in cooperation with the other research areas represented at the Institute and with academic institutions in Berlin and Brandenburg, participation in internal university research initiatives, a strong commitment to teaching, and participation in academic administration are required. A long-term commitment to the ‘International Forum for Doctoral Candidates in East European Art History' is desired.

Applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in accordance with § 100 of the `Berliner Hochschulgesetz`.
